Drovers Pummel OPSU to Complete the Three-Game Sweep
GOODWELL, Okla. – Saturday afternoon, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (15-18, 10-11 SAC) completed the three-game sweep with a 24-5 triumph on the road at Oklahoma Panhandle State University (11-25, 3-18 SAC). On Friday, the Drovers opened the series with a dominant 18-4 win, prior to a 19-3 drumming in game two. In total, USAO outscored OPSU 61-12 in the series.
With the sweep, the Drovers improve to 28-0 in head-to-head matchups against the Aggies all-time, dating to March 2018.
Furthermore, the Drovers are getting hot at the right time of the year, having won six of their last seven games.
The Drovers offense got going early and often, scoring four runs in the top of the first inning, highlighted by a 2-RBI double from Braton Givens. The Drovers added three runs in the second, two of which came on Henry Garcia's 10th home run of the season.
USAO stretched the lead to 10-0 with three runs in the third, punctuated by Solomon Harwood's third home run of the weekend.
The Aggies plated their first run in the bottom of the third, but the Drovers retaliated with an eight-run fourth inning, which included Corey Morro's fifth homer of the year.
OPSU scored their second run in the bottom of the fourth, prior to USAO extending its lead to 23-2 with a five-run rally in the top of the fifth.
After holding the Drovers scoreless in the top of the sixth, the Pioneers scored a trio of runs.
Alfonso Camacho blasted a solo-homer in the top of the seventh, before holding the Aggies scoreless in the bottom of the seventh, ending the game early due to the run-rule.
As a team, the Drovers offense produced 20 hits and reached on six walks, while the Aggies tallied nine hits and drew two walks. OPSU committed four fielding errors, while USAO bobbled the ball once on defense.
Kason Johnson got the start on the mound and improved his record to 3-1 as he went 5.0 innings, allowing one run on four hits and he struck out four batters. Jake Wellington pitched the sixth inning, before Tristan Perry pitched a scoreless seventh inning.
USAO's offense was led by Alfonso Camacho's four-hit performance. Camacho concluded 4-6 with a home run, three runs scored, and four runs batted in.
Solomon Harwood homered for the third time in as many games as he finished 3-3 with a double, a longball, a run scored, and three runs batted in.
Corey Morro went 2-3 with a double, a home run, a walk, two runs scored, and three runs batted in, while Braxton Givens went 2-4 with a pair of doubled, a run scored, and three runs batted in. Henry Garcia concluded 2-3 with a double, a homer, two runs scored, and three runs batted in.
Luke Fox scored four runs as he went 2-2 with a pair of stolen bases and a run batted in. Anthony Hampton closed the game 2-3 with a double, two runs scored, and two runs batted in.
Sammy Chapman went 1-2 with a triple, a run scored, and two runs batted in. Connor Martin singled and scored twice, while Gabe Clyden singled and scored three times.

The Drovers will return home Bill Smith Ballpark to host Southwestern Oklahoma State University (NCAA DII) on Tuesday, April 7 at 4:00 PM CT.
