Men’s Soccer Season Comes to an End at Nelson University

WAXAHACHIE, Texas – Tuesday night, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (6-6-5, 2-5-2 SAC) had their season brough to t a close as they suffered a 3-1 loss on the road at Nelson University (8-6-3, 3-4-2 SAC). In head-to-head matchups, the Drovers own a 7-1 record against the Lions since Oct. 2018.

The opening minutes of the game were evenly matched, but Nelson managed to claim the early lead with a goal in the 14^th minute. The Drovers pulled the score even in the 24^th minute as Matija Malenovic struck for his 12^th goal of the season. However, the Lions regained the lead only three minutes later and took a 2-1 advantage into the break.

Following halftime, the Drovers remained within striking distance until the 89^th minute when the Lions put the game out of reach with an insurance goal.

As a team, USAO attempted a total of 12 shots, with six being on goal, while Nelson attempted 19 shots, five of which were on frame. The Drovers were whistled for seven fouls, and the Lions were flagged for 13 infractions. Nelson had five corner-kicks, in comparison to USAO's four attempts out of the offensive corners.

At the conclusion of the regular season, Matija Malenovic is the Sooner Athletic Conference's leader in goals (12), points (25), and shots (67).

The Drovers will now head into the offseason and begin preparing for the 2026 season next fall.
