Gudmundsdottir’s Hat-Trick Stretches #20 USAO’s Unbeaten Streak to 11

CHICKASHA, Okla. – Saturday afternoon, the No. 20 ranked University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (8-2-5, 3-0-3 SAC) stretched their unbeaten streak to 11 games with an impressive 5-1 win against Wayland Baptist University (5-7, 2-4 SAC). In head-to-head matchups, the Drovers are 20-4 against the Pioneers in the all-time series, dating to October 2007. 

The Drovers wasted no time to claim the lead as Chiara Schillinger scored her first goal of the season as Emali Goulas put a nice ball into the box on a corner kick in the 5^th minute. USAO doubled the lead as Dagbjort Gudmundsdottir scored her first goal of the game in the 17^th minute, assisted by Chiara Morel. In the 29^th minute Gudmundsdottir scored her seventh of the season, set up by Ashlee Davison. The Drovers maintained the three-goal lead going into the break.

Following halftime, Gudmundsdottir completed the hat-trick with an unassisted effort less than two minutes into the second half. Ashlee Davison extended the lead to 5-0 with her fourth goal of the season, assisted by Daniela Salinas in the 56^th minute. 

Wayland scored its only goal of the game in the 77^th minute, but it was far too little, too late for the Pioneers.

As a team, USAO attempted a total of 25 shots, with 11 being on goal, while WBU attempted five shots, only three of which were on frame. The Pioneers were whistled for 11 fouls, while the Drovers committed only eight infractions. WBU had one corner-kick, in comparison to USAO's five attempts out of the offensive corners. 

Ashlyn Lonberg got the start between the pipes for USAO and stopped two of the three shots that came her way, moving her career record to 33-5-6 at USAO.

The Drovers will return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 21 as they travel to Central Christian College. Kick-off is scheduled for 5:00 PM CT in McPherson, Kan.
