Drovers Drop One to the Rams
CHICKASHA, Okla. – Saturday afternoon, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (12-10, 6-7 SAC) kept the score close but ultimately was dealt a three-set loss against Texas Wesleyan University (16-4, 13-0 SAC).
The Drovers got off to a great start and gained momentum early in the opening set, but the Rams responded and made it a battle to the finish, with Texas Wesleyan coming away with a 30-28 win.
Texas Wesleyan took a two-set lead with a 25-21 victory in the second set, followed by a 25-15 triumph in the third set to wrap up the match.
As a team, the Drover offense produced .154 attack percentage with 38 kills, while the Rams recorded only a .212 attack percentage and 47 kills. USAO's setters dished out a total of 35 assists, meanwhile the defense produced 59 digs and 5.0 total blocks. TX WES produced 44 assists, 64 digs, and 6.0 total blocks. Additionally, the Rams scored on eight aces, while the Drovers served up only one ace.
Jaliyah Cox and Chloe Conover led the Drover offense with 10 kills each. Cox added five digs and a pair of blocks, while Conover produced 11 digs and one block.
Morgan Kobe concluded with six kills on a .364 attack percentage, along with three blocks.
Samantha Perez followed with five kills, and Giselle Calderon tallied four.
Ytzel Garcia distributed 33 assists, in addition to seven digs and an ace. Brynlee Birney anchored USAO's defense with 24 digs and a pair of assists.
Bailey Makahununiu recorded eight digs, trailed by Alacia Ledoux with six.

The Drovers will be back in action on Tuesday, October 14 as they travel to Mid-America Christian University. First serve is slated for 6:00 PM CT in Oklahoma City.
